The Christa McAuliffe Intermediate School believes that it is the responsibility of all the stakeholders in our school and beyond to encourage and foster high standards of excellence. We focus on academics and social growth. Our unique academy organization provides a nurturing and supportive environment for all of our students to succeed.

Parents are crucial in shaping student attitudes toward education and supporting necessary enrichment. We at IS 187, pride ourselves on our exceptional enrichment programs which include but are not limited to: Band, Chorus, Art Portfolio/Set design, Creative Writing, Dance, Homework Help, Math/ELA Help, SHSAT prep, Sports, Technology, Theater, & Visual Arts.

Our clubs offer students an opportunity to learn and have fun outside of the classroom environment. IS 187 offers: Chess Club, Debate Club, Drama Club, Kiwanis Club, and Young Runners Club.

Students look forward towards our School Wide Overnight trips all year long! IS 187 annual trips include these destinations: Washington, DC, Philadelphia, PA, Boston, MA and the Intrepid Museum in NYC.
